Steak N’ Fly

Every time I say this I laugh but, it isn’t exactly a funny story.  We went to Steak N’ Shake the other day with the kids.  Lynn got a single cheeseburger with everything on it :-) Yes everything, including a dead fly.  So we came up with the name of Steak N’ Fly in place of Steak N’ Shake.  The name is much funnier than the story.  I guess you had to be there :-)

South side of Indianapolis/Greenwood needs a Wild Oats or Whole Foods…

The southside does not have any Organic and Natural foods supermarkets. We get tired of driving to Wild Oats on the north side of town . It would be nice to have one close to home. We are limited to what our local grocery offers and that is very little. We love organic foods but there just aren’t many options for us on the south side / Greenwood.

Come on Wild Oats or Whole Foods get down here to us south siders :-) .

We need a Whole Foods in Indianapolis…

This is for my friend who wishes to remain nameless :-) . We need a Whole Foods Supermarket in Indianapolis. I went to one in Boulder Colorado and it was a very cool. They had so many Organic and Natural foods. Lots of homemade items in the store and a very cool bakery. They even had a nice little cafe with Organic and Natural foods.

7-Up is NOT 100 Percent Natural

Have you heard this? This is Crazy. When I first heard that 7-Up was going 100% Natural I thought, “Wow that is cool. Finally, a mainstream soda manufacturer is doing the right thing and using natural ingredients.” So, I go to the store and pick up one of the cans that say “100% Natural” and I look at the ingredients. And there it was, High Fructose Corn Syrup! What! That is NOT natural. High Fructose Corn Syrup (HFCS) is the furthest thing from being Natural.

Just wanted you all to know my feelings on High Fructose Corn Syrup. I don’t like it because it is genetically altered corn and that just scares me.

Goes to show you that anyone can use the word “Natural” in there product. Also note that no one can use the word “Organic” without it being USDA certified Organic. Always try to by Organic products with the USDA Organic Seal.
If anyone wants to know what HFCS is go to WikiPedia and read the basics on it. If you want a non-technical explanation go here. Are you Diabetic, then you should be aware of HFCS. To give HFCS credit here is a link to their web site.
